Day 29: Just more yard work.
B and I spent the evening working in the yard. We also cleaned up peaches that had fallen from our peach tree. We tried to find ones still on the tree that were good to eat...but sadly, they were all moldy or infested with bugs. Yuck. I am sad about this. I need to research more on maintaining a peach tree. I also worry the rats, yes RATS, that are living in the wood pile in our backyard might have found these sad little peaches and used them as food. So GROSS.
RATS BE WARNED: I WILL find you. I WILL kill you. There is NO mercy.

Day 28: Another reason to get together...
This little munchkin turns "6" on Tuesday. We are so proud of her!
We spent the evening at Grandma Shaw's house for some cake and really yummy Huckleberry ice cream. Grandma turned to me and asked "So Meg, what have you been up to?" I responded "Oh, I now spend my days on the couch eating Bon Bon's. It's really awesome Grandma, I highly recommend it." I'm thinking she didn't get my sarcasm, because her eyes got really wide and and she looked confused. To reassure her I'm not completely lost, I pulled out the project I've been working on (Which I will showcase when I'm finished.) and showed it to her for some "Way to go!" or "You're awesome!" Grandma feedback. She gave me "Huh...how cute." I'll take it.
Chee escaped the family commotion to play on my favorite piano: Grandma's baby grand. This reminds me of thoughts slightly teasing my mind lately about teaching piano again. Just a teasing thought. That's all. Happy new week y'all!

Day 27: Shane's Endowment
We spent the afternoon at the Mt. Timpanogos Temple. Shane took his endowments out today and it was absolutely lovely. It is so wonderful to be in such a sacred place with your family. I've never been to this temple before. It was gorgeous!
C'mon Ladies!
The Whole Crew:
(Okay, I'm sorry. If they were wearing black name tags, this would be a picture of a missionary and his mission president and mission president's wife.)
On the way to the temple, a dear sister companion sent me a text that she had a miscarriage after 12 weeks of pregnancy. My heart just started to hurt. She responded "I ache to be a mom more than ever now."
Me too, sweet friend. Me too.
It was in the temple that I felt a peace and reassurance that my time would come. As B gently squeezed my hand, I was reminded how much the Lord has blessed me. And how incredibly grateful I am for eternal families. My family. Forever.
In other news: CONGRATS SHANE! You da bomb.

Day 26: Plan B
Last night I wrote out a very detailed plan of what my day today would include. I prided myself on how organized and efficient it was. When today came around, though, things didn't go exactly as I had meticulously scheduled.
Momma called around 11:00 am. She took a personal day and asked me to accompany her while she ran all her errands. By 4:30 pm we were done and I had husby come pick me up from my parent's house.
Tonight is date night and B chose Paradise Bakery for dinner. It was a perfect summer meal with fresh salads, yummy wraps and sandwiches, and a delicious (my very favorite) chocolate chip cookie. We ended up walking next door to World Market and I dreamed of how I would decorate my home with all their fabulous stuff. Colors, colors, colors!
The next part of our date night was supposed to be the library to pick out a book to read together. Unfortunately, the library decided they would close at 6:00 pm on Fridays. Blah. So, we decided on a dollar movie. But, the line to buy tickets was wrapped clear around the building. Ugh. We ended up coming back to the house and watching our Netflix movie. I realized I would rather be snuggled up on the couch with B than anywhere else...so it all worked out in the end.
No matter what the plan said.
Quote of the Day:
(found while running errands with momma)
Faith is living without having all the answers.
Faith is being sure of what we hope.
Faith is still believing the best.

Day 25: Work in Progress
I spent the afternoon with Whit. We visited my dad at one of his current job sites (auntie's house). Whit and I sat on the grass, while dad met with the inspector. We talked about our futures and our dream homes. We also talked about this:
Oh no you didn't!
This post? It's my prerogative as an older sister. Also, she gave me permission.
I love you, W-bum!
In other news:
I found a new show I love:
EXTREME MAKEOVER: Weight Loss Addition
I made B watch it with me. I cried. B didn't. We both feel inspired.

Day 22: Bare Essentials
Today was all about essentials...the bare essentials. Dishes, laundry, DEEP cleaning the bathroom, picking up the house...showering, and other boring stuff was the focus on my "to do" list. No makeup, no hair, no "real" clothes. Shame.
If I ever had a mug shot, I imagine it would look something like this.
Quote for the day:
"Guess what? I have flaws. What are they? Oh I dunno, I sing in the shower? Sometimes I spend too much time volunteering. Occasionally I'll hit somebody with my car. So sue me-- no, don't sue me. That is opposite the point I'm trying to make."
Michael from The Office
(This made folding laundry more enjoyable today.)

Day 21: Saratoga Springs Tennis
Check out this website, created by my father-in-law Carl Johnson. He is living his dream.
FHE in Saratoga Springs included a photo shoot for the website. These guys were the best part.
Quote for the day:
(from talk in Sacrament meeting today)
"Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love."

Day 20: Card Night
After a long day of school shopping with Tay, my other siblings asked if they could hang out with us this evening. We decided to pull together a card game of Hand and Foot Foot. Every played it?
Grandma Day would be very proud. Especially because my team WON.
Quote of the Day:
Megan: "I wish I could see what you see in me."
Brandon: "I see what you don't see. You see what I don't see.
That's what makes us so great."

Day 19: Snowbird
B and I headed up Little Cottonwood Canyon to Snowbird Resort, where Master Control was holding their annual Summer Carnival. It included unlimited rides on the Zip Line, Alpine Slide, Tram, and other fun things. The best part? We both got to wear matching blue t-shirts. Yeah baby!
(Okay, if I'm looking a little scared...it's because I was. Lately I've been such a baby about heights. The TRAM was no different. But it was SO awesome!)
(I mean, check out this view!)
(He's not scared of anything.
Except when I forget to turn my hair straightener off.
That worries him.)

Day 18: Birthdays and Jobs...birthday's are so much more fun.
It is Shane Johnson's birthday today. He is 25. This is his birthday cheesecake that Carl personalized.
It was very yummy!
Happy Birthday Shane!
In other news...
I applied for a job today! I even pulled out my "Writing in the Social Sciences" book from a class at BYU and used it to update my resume. Who knew that would come in handy? It took me 3 HOURS to apply and write my resume. 3 HOURS.
2 cute kids. *NOTE: I am partial to the one on the right. :)

Day 17
I don't have any good name for this post. That's pretty much how the day went. I just rolled with the punches and had no responsibility or goal to reach for...except keeping an 8 year old alive and happy for the day.
Tonight found us at Olive Garden to celebrate something special that has to do with:
I wish you and myself a very long and comfortable night's rest.
(This is on the way home from Saratoga Springs. I just love August sunsets.)

Me and My Buddy
Today was spent with this guy. We played Battleship, watched National Geographic's Sea Monsters (I might have fallen asleep through half of it), visited my neighbor Margo and played with her dog Ben, baked chocolate chip cookies (which I have yet to find that AMAZING recipe for), jumped on the trampoline, went swimming at the CH Rec Center, joined the ym/yw for a water fight at the church pavilion, ate breakfast taquitos and waffles, enjoyed some cookies and milk, and ended the day with "Despicable Me" (one of my fav's).
I AM TIRED. :)
Before all this excitement, though...
I MADE GRANOLA! And it actually tastes pretty good! (P.S. B helped a lot too.)
B and Carson playing Mr. Napkin-head
Quote for the day:
