High School Dance

Homecoming for Brighton High School was tonight. To save some bucks, P asked if I would take pictures for him and his buddies and their dates. Beautiful girls and cute guys. It brought back memories of my high school dances. I have to say, I don't miss it. :)

I am sad that my Cougars lost tonight, but they are still awesome and
I still wear my Cougar blue with pride.

Another one for the books.

Tonight found us at the one and only SLC GREEK FESTIVAL! Since this is the very place I first met B, it has significant meaning for both of us. We decided we would use our date night to celebrate 1 year from when we met.

We ate Gyros, Pastitsio, Spanakopita, and stood at the end of a long line for Loukoumades (a donut-like dessert), but we skipped out when B promised me a Frosty instead of waiting in another line. I agreed.

It was fun to watch the dancers, look at the art being sold in the gymnasium, and walk around the Greek Orthodox church. It really brought back memories of awkward flirting and "getting-to-know-you" conversations between B and I. I looked at him as we stood in line for food and felt so SO grateful I made the little decision to "tag along" with a friend on a Saturday night, 1 year ago. How things came together for us...it's all Greek to me! But, I do know it was the right choice and I find myself more and more in love with that choice every day.

(As you can see, B is modeling for BYU this time, instead of his traditional Aggies shirt.
1 year has done him good!)

We were made for this.

While B and I made cookies tonight, we acted like we were on a Food Network TV show.
It sounded something like this:

"Now, we are going to use our handy dandy Kitchen Aid to mix our cookies. We will attach the bowl like this and add the mixer on there. Then we will add our generic brand of vegetable shortening, which we purchased from Target. As you will see, Brandon likes to use our measuring cups for exact measurements...and he will slowly pour the flour into the mixer like so..."

I'm thinking we could call our show something like:

B&M: Back to the Basics
or
Enjoying EVERY Step: How to make desserts in 1 hour, when it really should only take 15 minutes!

We delivered some cookies to my family. We ended up on my parent's bed, all snuggled together. Then Parker came in and body slammed us. We went home after that.

Labor Day 2011

I told B that today was "his" day. It's been a while since he's had a day off from work during the week, so I wanted him to do whatever he wanted. This is what he chose:

-Coco Dyno Bites for breakfast and NOT icky Kashi cereal, which is causing some intestinal discomfort. (I don't think he'll like that I posted that.) Which reminds me of B running after an old lady's shopping cart at the grocery store this morning, because she was talking to the produce guy about their corn and didn't even realize it had rolled right out into the road. He ran after it and pulled it up to where she was. She hardly noticed anything had happened. She said goodbye to the produce guy, grabbed her cart, and went straight to her car. It was like something you would see in a movie. I giggled and giggled and giggled.

-Watched Inception from Netflix. B had to keep pausing it to answer all my questions.

-Had Zupas salad and sandwiches for lunch.

-Played Hand and Foot Foot with my family. While we were getting ready, I asked B what he wanted to do today. I was surprised to hear that his Labor Day dream was to win a game of Hand and Foot Foot. Too cute. I quickly made the call to my sisters and set up the time to play. Unfortunately, he didn't win...we played twice. But I think he still had a good time. Except for an insane and terrible TV show called "Dance Moms" that my family had on after we finished.  I'm just going to say one thing about it, because it's not worth any more of my time: I was completely disgusted at how awful and vicious the women were. And the ugly examples they are setting for their young daughters. That's all.

HAPPY LABOR DAY Y'ALL!

P.S. Dad brought down a coupon for the one and only SLC GREEK FESTIVAL! Can you believe it's been a year?

Too early?

I have always had the opinion that all Christmas songs should NOT be played BEFORE the day after Thanksgiving. But, tonight B and I rocked our "winter mix" in the car.
Too early? Yes. But definitely fun.

(It looks like B's nose is a lightbulb...kind of like a famous reindeer.)

Enjoy to the End.

Win game one? Check.

You can probably guess that today was spent watching BYU's first football game of the season.
As you can see...they won. Which means September is already showcasing how awesome it can be.

We made some "treats" for our little watching party. I got my ideas here.

After the game, we attended a wedding reception for one of my former coworkers.
Her colors were yellow and grey...which I loved. Another friend/coworker made these jewels:

She gave me ideas for "cougar" cupcakes.
FYI: She is the BIGGEST Ute fan in the world! Seriously.
And ironically, she is one of the only Ute fans I can stand to talk to about U of U
and still feel happy.
I could probably sit next to her at a BYU/Utah football game and have a fairly fun time. Maybe.
So weird.

we are BYU.

B-isms

A conversation that took place about 15 minutes ago at the local grocery store:

M: "Okay, we need pretzels."
B: "Okay, here's the beer aisle."
M: "The beer aisle?"
B: Yeah, like pretzels and beer.
M: *laugh*, "I don't think so..."
M: *still laughing*

Tonight we got to catch up with an old friend (our cupid).
We love her and send her our best wishes for the loveliest kind of love life can offer!

Quote of the Day:

"Love is the very essence of life
It is the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. Yet it is not found only at the end of the rainbow.
Love is at the beginning also, and from it springs the beauty that arched across the sky on a stormy day.
Love is the security for which children weep, the yearning of youth, the adhesive that binds marriage,
and the lubricant that prevents devastating friction in the home; it is the peace of old age,
the sunlight of hope shining through death.
How rich are those who enjoy it in their associations with family, friends, and neighbors!
Love, like faith, is a gift of God.
It is also the most enduring and most powerful virtue."
